Jeffrey A. Winkles, PhD
Dr. Winkles brings more than 35 years of experience as a molecular biologist and translational therapeutics researcher. He is Professor of Neurosurgery (with secondary appointments in Physiology and Surgery) at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and serves as Director of Research and Discovery in Neurosurgery as well as Co-Director of the Translational Therapeutics Research Group. His research focuses on the TWEAK/Fn14 axis and the development of Fn14-targeted nanoparticle therapeutics for cancer.
As a scientific advisor and one of the inventors of the NOVVA™ platform, Dr. Winkles plays a pivotal role in advising on targeted delivery strategies, receptor-mediated nanoparticle design, and pre-clinical translation of our oncology programs. His deep expertise in cell-surface target identification and nanotherapeutic development is critical to the robust translation of candidate therapies in our pipeline.
Dr. Winkles earned his BA in Biology from the University of Delaware, his PhD in Biology from the University of Virginia, and completed post-doctoral fellowship training at the National Institutes of Health.
